Ustazah Nighat Hashmi

Scholar Nighat Hashmi is the prodigious daughter of Mr. Abdur Rahman Hashmi, a staunch Muslim and a renowned scholar of Islam. Mr. Abdur Rahman Hashmi was the student of Maulana Shabbir Ahmad Usmani, a renowned authority of the East, in Islam. His forefathers migrated from Saudia Arabia to the Sub-Continent decades ago to spread the light of Islam in this region. They are descended from the Banu Hashim clan of the Quraish, particularly from the lineage of Abdullah Ibn Abbas (R.A). Having been reared up within the confines of Quran and Sunnah, she received personal attention and Quranic education at the very hands of her own inspiring father.

Scholar Nighat Hashmi has a real concern for humanity. This is the reason why she decided to relate the true message of Islam. Her desire to let people know that Islam is the solution for all the problems of this world, made her deliver the solutions that are embedded in Islam, on the crucial relationship issues to the masses. Due to the ongoing denial of the society to acknowledge the lack proper girls’ education, it was very essential to play a part in the given circumstances, to drive the society from darkness to light.

In 1995, during her M.Phil. in Teacher’s Education, a research was conducted by Nighat Hashmi on the topic “Analysis of character building in the religious institutes of Pakistan”. The results acknowledged from this work out are both, miserable and in contradiction to the true preaching’s of Islam. She felt the need and responsibility to guide people about the true message of Islam. This research led to the establishment of “Al-Noor International” in 1996, with the objective of promoting character building and behaviour modification among Muslim youth in the light of teachings of Islam.

Ustazah Nighat Hashmi is the first Asian Female Islamic scholar who got the privilege to translate and compile the interpretation of Quran.

Early life & education

Scholar Nighat Hashmi’s mission is to provide best education and training, and making positive citizens for which courses of Quran, Hadith, Islamic way of living, manners, habits, rights and duties have been formed in order to deliver the best education to women.

Education of women is very essential in every society. A woman shapes a person life as a mother, daughter, sisters and a wife. The welfare, prosperity and success of any society can be done if quality education is provided to women. That is why every course taught by Scholar Nighat Hashmi is designed to develop the women of the nation into peaceful and healthy citizens and productive human beings.

Scholar Nighat Hashmi is recognized worldwide for her in-depth knowledge of the teachings of the Quran, Hadith, Seerah, contemporary issues of women and detailed study of Islam as a way of life. She established the first educational institute “Al-Noor International” in Bahawalpur, a chain of educational institutes that cater the education and character building for women. Since then, Al-Noor institutes have been established in most of the cities of Pakistan, to impart the pristine teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah. Besides regular courses, the institute conducts monthly plus weekend courses along with special workshops for student and teacher training. The scholar herself lectures in many of these sessions. Many of her lectures are recorded and disseminated all throughout Pakistan, and abroad.

Nighat Hashmi is embarked upon the arduous and formidable task of re-uniting the masses with their Creator. This is the reason why she relates to all, the message which is in the Glorious Qur’an. She lets everyone know that the Glorious Qur’an is a guideline, a roadmap, to a peaceful living in this world and salvation in the hereafter. Her passionate desire coupled with pain, care, and concern drives her to research and teach from authentic sources.

Nighat Hashmi translated the Quran in an easy and common understanding way. In order for the readers to understand the language and difficult words of the Quran, the Quranic words also have them. She is the first female Islamic scholar who got the privilege to translate the Quran with interpretation.
